Was looking at doing this traverse. But over 12 hours to do 15 kms? Is that because of a lack of a path along the summit ridge?

No clear path along the ridge which, as you can see from the photos, is quite rugged.
Thank you Jacques. We are planning two days – start early – about 8.30 after drive up from Cape Town, sleep about halfway along the ridge, then complete the hike the following day – hoping to reach Bothmaskloof Pass by mid afternoon. Does this sound reasonable Jacques?

Hello Jacques – disappointing news – couldn’t get permission to climb from Pulpit Rock so just did a one day hike from Goedgedacht. Was very nice but jislaik it’s rof up there – congrats on doing the whole thing in thirteen hours.
Hi Paul, what was the problem at Pulpit Rock? Is the hiking trail still closed? Good to know you managed to find another way up the mountain.
Hi Jacques – it was late last year when I asked Pulpit Rock and they said no it was closed but try Goedgedacht. So that’s what we did. I have a nice video on my phone which I can send you via whatsapp if you’d like.
